Hangover effect of Joker

A movie like Joker is a rare masterpiece. It portrays the untold miseries of a man or in other words The Clown. Unlike, the perpetual idolatry of the protagonist in the silver screen, this one vouches to be idiosyncratic and unconventional. Yes, it’s an eye-opener as it reveals a nail-biting tale of an antagonist-the supervillain Joker. More so, it brings to limelight the mental illness of an individual- something that our society gives a cold shoulder.

Quotes from “Joker”

Like any physical injury, mental derangement in any form inflicts unfathomable agony to the individual suffering from it. Where a physical bruise is visible to the human eye, things get unexplainable when wounds wreak a person emotionally. In this movie, Arthur Fleck(Joaquin Phoenix) suffers from Pseudobulbar affect(PDA) where the emotional outbursts of a person results in uncontrollabe and incessant laughter.

When the movie progresses it unfolds spine-chilling revelations of the person’s traumatic experience. It is a constant reminder that whenever we come across any person who is little awkwardly silent, bizzarely deviant, fiercely aggressive, hysterically paranoid or alarmingly fearful extend a helping hand. If not, the least one can do is not to offer any judgemental and irrelevant advices.

On a personal note, my unparallel appreciation for this movie is due to its familiarity with my life. I could relate to some of it in bits and pieces. A person with disturbing childhood memories, I have sailed through too many troubled seas to overcome my anxieties, apprehension and mental imbalances. Till today, if I am remotely reminded of those horrendous experiences my mind gets delusional and starts hallucinating. Some scars leave haunting footprints.

Quotes from “Joker”

Much unlike Arthur Fleck, who triggers a mass revolution and chaos, I have amassed sheer audacity and stubbornness to fight all my inner demons and inculcate positivity. From being a socially aloof and introvert child to transform into an extrovert, I have come a long way to be the person who I am today. Yes, sometimes it is hard to imagine that the person who always bears a smile and radiates positivity was once drowning in gales of melancholy. Each time when life threw unendurable challenges, I was never self-destructive. I chose to rise like a phoenix from the ashes and soar high proving my resilience excels them.

It takes an immense amount of grit and courage when I am choosing to pen down the dark facets of my life.Yes, it is my aplomb and self pride that I battled my way to be a survivor and a non-quitter. And it’s a beseech to individuals going through a lot in their lives to be vocal about their hardships and not succumb to it.
